Continuing an exploration of alternative self-portraits, Aline Smithson show us her feet, ‘Each of these self-portraits conveys one part of my life—a moment, a routine, my humor, my fears, my fun. Because I just show the feet, the viewer is able to project him/herself into the situation and create their own narratives.’
She shows us her feet, but also gives us context in the tightly framed shots. I’m particularly taken with the concept of an approach that allows the viewer to project themselves into the frame and create their own narratives.
